Dr. Kathryn Martin

Kathryn Smith Martin has had a varied career since her graduation from Greenville College with a history and education degree. She has been a junior high and senior high history teacher in the Dallas Independent School District, a college instructor in history and speech at Central College in Kansas, a church administrative pastor and worked with Agape Counseling Associates with business operations and public relations in New York.

Currently, Kathryn continues to be busy with campus life, travel, and administrative duties in the Free Methodist Church.

One of Kathryn’s greatest joys is the large women’s Bible study that she teaches each year. Designed primarily for working women while meeting over the noon hour, the study materials which are written by Kathryn cover an Old Testament book each fall and a New Testament book each spring.

In addition, Kathryn has been a popular speaker in church and civic groups having spoken at hundreds of conferences and meetings. Her busy work and travel schedule has been balanced by raising four sons and assisting in her husband’s responsibilities as a seminary administrator and a college president.

Kathryn is married to Dr John A Martin, President of Roberts Wesleyan College and Northeastern Seminary. The Martins have four sons: Christopher (1977) who lives and works in Washington, DC and is married to April and the father of Jack and Shiloh; Cameron (1980) who serves in the United States Army and is currently an Arabic Instructor at the Defense Language Institute who is married to Christa and the father of Lily; Colin (1983) who lives and works in Dallas, TX managing a small retail chain and Kyle (1984) who married Amber this past August and who teaches in a Charter School in Rochester, NY. In addition, the Martin’s niece, Helen, lives and works in Aldine, TX as a high school English teacher.
